In The Loop... Long Live Vinyl

Great news for Vinyl junkies, record collectors and all those who are still to discover the beauty of the record!

Vinyl sales are showing a steady increase, battling their way once again back into the hearts and homes of people up & down the country.

British sales alone have risen just over 5%, a figure which experts advise may be hire due to the various places Vinyl is retailed with no record.

The format, which is a mainstay of the dance music scene is not only enjoying a renaissance period, but becoming once again fashionable with youths who had no previous exposure to 12" and 7" records.

Vinyl trader Steve Clancey, from Brixton, said:
"Downloads are quick and easy but nothing beats the joy of holding a heavy piece of vinyl. Vinyl sounds richer and there's something special about the cover art and sleeve notes which you cannot get with digital tunes."

Here at TM HQ we were rather happy to hear this, long live vinyl!

Music Monday!

Today we've selected the sounds of Mr Steve Bug to ease you into the week.

A set which is live and ripped from his gig at the Electric Zoo Festival, even has the crowd noises over the top of the music.

Steve's style is unique and his track selection is floorless. Listen in this set as we builds and works the party into a frenzy.

Double Bubble....

Couldn't resist a double post today as I've just spotted what is an amazing video. Showing how people of all ages, nations and faiths can enjoy mixing.... This video comes from a set in Paris.

69 year old Grandmother Ruth Flowers is proving to be a hit on the local scene, she states "I’d rather sign a contract with a record company than to sign up for the nursing home"

#4 Recommend for the weekend

As we head into March, it is apparent again the quality and number of good parties that we have on our little island.

SOUTH

For Dubstep heads out there, tonight is a biggie too. The DMZ crew are one of the most respected not only in London, but the global Dubstep scene. Their legendary birthday events at Brixton venue Mass are packed to the rafters with fans traveling the globe for the annual party.

This, their fifth birthday includes favorites including Skream, Benga, Distance, Loefa, Digital Mystikz, Joy Orbison, Actress & Instra:mental will all play DJ sets back to back. Making a unique soundtrack for the evening, some even bringing specially cut dubs for the night.

If Dubstep is your thing, then you cant ask for any more from a party. Good music, good people = good times!

Following their 10th birthday extravaganza (the disco stayed open Sat night until Mon morning - 30hrs!), Fabric have once again decided to play host to an extended hours party. Their "On & On... & On" concept is now born and is set to be another one not to miss if you are in town this weekend. "Some people may opt to come down on Saturday and see where the night takes them, some may pop down after a Sunday breakfast to dive deep into fascinating electronic soundscapes during the day, and some might just come for the last stretch on Sunday eve. Some people will come and go over the prolonged period. Some will never leave"

With a quite frankly ridiculous line up formed by Ellen Allien, Gadi Mizrahi, Konrad Black, Onur Özer, Patrice Scott, Radio Slave, Seth Troxler, residents Craig Richards and Terry Francis plus many many more TM suggests you pop in, even if it's just for Sunday afternoon!

NORTH

Rounding up the cream of the events in the North poses no hard task this week. There are two parties which stand out a mile...

Firstly comes the re-opening of a somewhat legendary Glasgow venue, The Arches. Who else better to make sure the party goes off than Belgian musical wizards 2 Many DJs. Those in attendance will see the two hour set, which is sure to include a mash up of styles and genres which has become their signature sound. Nirvana, Boys Noize, Mr Oizo, Depeche Mode, Tiga & The Eurythmics are just some examples of the variation which will be skillfully woven into the soundscape.

The other party which we've selected is one that sees legendary Frenchman, Laurent Garnier play an extended set. Playing for 3 hours, both a live performance and a DJ set. This epic party is destined to be a piece of Manchester clubbing history....

Music Monday!

This week, instead of posting up a mix we've decided to share with you on of our favorite online resources for free Internet Radio.

Filter Music breaks down the pick of the web's best stations. Split into groups via their genre, what ever your taste may be there's sure to be something that pleases with Hip Hop & Electronica right through to Salsa and Soul!

Personally, our favorite from their list is Ibiza Global Radio (found under House). Broadcast all year from the white isle, you are certain to be hearing a mix of music which is up to date played not only by the DJs we all know and love, but ones who live on the Island and have impeccable taste...

Check out the Filter Music site and follow the links to listen.

Enjoy!

#3 Recommend for the weekend

The final weekend of any month is a busy one and this Feb is no different. A whole host of talent are destined for parties in the UK over the next few days, from legend Derrick Carter, Tiefschwarz, Marco V, Redshape to House originator Frankie Knuckles.

Our pick of the parties are as follows:

SOUTH

A weekend of quality House music seems to be the flavor of the week in the Capital city. Saturday night sees Superclub Matter are hosting "Nocturnal" with Frankie Knuckles and The Shapeshifters. With the latter hosting the main room for the first time and the NYC house legend as their guest. The second space is set not to disappoint with ATFC, alongside Dirty London guests Cool G, Deep Teknologie and Gavin Peters.

Tickets and further info can be found on the Matter website

For those of you who have joined the revolution of Sunday partying, you'll know that as the rest of the city roasts you can carry on the party right through to Sunday night. FUSE, which is probably the most vibrant party well followed parties has made a last minute addition to their event. Due to venue issues, new afterhours "Found" have moved their party to the Back Room of Fuse. The Brick Lane party which already had Alex Celler, Rich NXT, Luke Miskelly & Enzo Siragusa, has now added Martinez, alongside Found resident and London talent Antony Difrancesco. Running from 12pm to 12pm and at only £5 to get in, this is one not to miss!

Best checking Facebook for this party

NORTH

Expect the O2 Academy in Leeds to be transformed, with the usual attention to detail that the Filth Crew give to their parties. The venue will feature fire breathers, acrobats, stunt artists performing, blasts of ice cannons to get lost in, some amazing visuals and the usual Filth dancers!

Accompanying this spectacular show is a massive line-up of:
Faithless Sound System - live feat. Maxi Jazz & Sister Bliss, John Dahlbäck, Funkagenda, Style of Eye, Danny Savage, Alex Metric, FOAMO, Rachel Barton, Eddi Zanetti, Gav Bailey
